The "Saltina" was founded in 1872 and presents itself in its current formation as a fully developed wind orchestra, which has established itself in recent years with top rankings at cantonal and national competitions in the 1st strength class.

A trademark of the "Saltina" is its beautiful choral sound, which is always positively judged by competition jurors. The "Saltina" has been under the direction of Armin Renggli since 2013. In addition to original orchestral music, the "Saltina" also cultivates music-making in chamber music formations, for which performances at the Festival of the Future in Ernen, in the Stockalperturm in Gondo or in the Rittersaal in Brig stand for and with which the responsibility and the musical spectrum of the musicians should be expanded.

Various appearances on radio and television, the unforgettable Old Town Serenades, the concerts in the Simplonhalle and in the church of Brig and - as cultural highlights of the region - the performances of Carmina Burana in 2008, the BrigerMusikNächte 2018 as well as the BrigerMusikPromenade and the anniversary concerts on the occasion of the 150th anniversary in 2022 underpin the renowned reputation of the "Saltina".
