About me

Hi everyone!

My name is Aron Fahrni, I am a professional athlete in the Swiss Para Snowboard National Team. I am grateful that I am able to do this interesting job full-time, as it brings me into contact with exciting people and situations.

I grew up with three siblings on a farm in Oberthal. Thanks to a good balance between free time and helping on the farm, I learnt many skills that I am very grateful for today. Among other things, I learnt manual skills, perseverance and problem-solving skills outside, and household and important social skills inside. Having my own pets meant that I had to take responsibility for other living creatures from an early age. In my free time, I was very active, especially in the football club or I attended music lessons.

In my childhood, I also had to deal with my disability, which resulted from a ski lift accident. At the age of six, I was caught by the lower return pulley of a small drag lift, which tore all the nerves in my left arm. Through various operations in the following years, I was able to regain my motor and sensory functions to a certain extent.

This accident left its mark on my life, but did not severely restrict it. After graduating from high school in Hofwil, I studied sports science and musicology at the University of Bern and graduated with a bachelor's degree. Since then, I have mainly focussed on my sporting career, including at the top sports military school in Magglingen.

I don't see the challenges posed by my physical disability as a disadvantage. They sharpen my character, make me question the status quo and challenge me to perform at my best. I have learnt that I can learn and grow from difficulties. I want to pass this message on to as many people as possible and use the platforms that I get as an athlete to do so.
