Anna Schmid works on the trunks, mainly with a chainsaw, until their surface seems to transform into a material other than wood. Deception and irritation are intended to focus the viewer's attention on form and content, pushing the strong presence of the material into the background.
Wood is one of Anna Schmid's favorite materials. The artist uses the organic material to create sculptures and installations full of momentum and lightness: airy towers that play with gravity or wheels that look as if the hard wood has been folded into soft folds.
Anna Schmid exhibits mainly in Germany and in neighboring countries.
