Cézanne - Renoir: Regards croisés

Fondation Pierre Gianadda, Rue du Forum 59, 1920 Martigny
Discover masterpieces from the collections of the Musée de l'Orangerie and the Musée d'Orsay from July 12 to November 19 2024 at the Fondation P. Gianadda.
Cézanne, Renoir: a look at two masters of French painting from the last quarter of the 19th and early 20th centuries: Renoir, exhibited in 2014 at the Fondation Pierre Gianadda, and Cézanne in 2017.

Here they are, reunited to bring the Fondation's walls to life with works that compare, confront, emancipate and finally become the guardians of the 20th century's future avant-gardes. This is the challenge that the Musée de l'Orangerie and the Musée d'Orsay in Paris are taking up this summer with some 60 paintings.

Sylvain Amic, President of the Orsay and Orangerie museums, and Claire Bernardi, Director of the Musée de l'Orangerie, recall with emotion Léonard Gianadda's support and commitment to the success of this summit dialogue between Cézanne and Renoir.

Just before his death, the president of the Fondation insisted that this exhibition should make a stopover at the bend in the Rhône. The catalog and exhibition are a final tribute of gratitude expressed by Sylvain Amic, his predecessor Christophe Leribault and Claire Bernardi to the late Léonard Gianadda.

The exhibition runs from July 12 to November 19, 2024, daily from 09:00 to 18:00.
