The FIBA Foundation welcomes you to their new exhibition entitled: From the pitch to the big screen
Imagine the smell of popcorn in the air, the lights dimming, and suddenly you're transported from the comfortable seat of your local cinema to the adrenaline-fuelled world of basketball. Come to the House of Basketball to discover the brand new exhibition ‘From the court to the big screen’, in which we explore the magical crossover between basketball and cinema.
Cinema is often referred to as the seventh art. It's a magical portal that allows us to escape reality, live different lives and explore new worlds. When you combine that with the dynamic and exciting world of basketball, you get an unbeatable combination. ‘From the court to the big screen’ brings you an impressive 90 films from over 20 countries, spanning almost a century of basketball in the cinema, from the early days of black and white films to today's blockbusters. We have selected these films to give you as comprehensive an overview as possible of how basketball and cinema have found their way into society through love stories, educational proposals, values, fiction...
**Mirco Cussigh: the man behind the magic**
Meet Mirco, renowned basketball collector and long-time friend of the House of Basketball. He was instrumental in organizing this exhibition. His collection of basketball-themed films is second to none. From posters and lobby cards to clothing worn in the films and autographs, he has everything to amaze you. And now he's generously sharing his treasures with us for this exhibition, just for the love of basketball!
**Fun for all**
This exhibition is designed for young audiences and families. Whether you're a die-hard basketball fan or just enjoy a good film, there's something for everyone. But more than that, we hope to awaken your curiosity and critical thinking.
Come and visit us at the Patrick Baumann Basketball House, mobile phone in hand, scan the QR codes and make the most of this exhibition.
The House of Basketball is open every day of the week from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm and admission is free for all visitors. For a more complete experience, guided tours for groups can be arranged by contacting houseofbasketball@fiba.basketball.
