VISITING THE CHÂTEAU
Paper figures by the Belgian artist Isabelle de Borchgrave set in the Château de Nyon. Contemporary art and the 18th century blend together, this year with paper ghosts visiting from the court of Frederick II, King of Prussia.

At the Château de Nyon, the paper figures are arranged in a scenography that highlights both the work of their creator – who often drew inspiration from portraits of the Berlin court or, in the case of the monkey, from a Meissen porcelain made in 1731 – as well as pieces of furniture and, above all, porcelain.

Indeed, the connection between Berlin and Nyon is established through porcelain. Jakob Dortu, the initiator of the Nyon manufactory in 1781, honed his skills at the Berlin manufactory, founded by Frederick II. A medallion made in Nyon depicting his father is evidence of this. Additionally, the museum's collections are fortunate to possess Meissen porcelain pieces with chinoiserie decorations that find their place in the exhibition.
