Endurance is an endurance sport in which the pair (horse-rider) is called upon to cover long distances by completing loops of various distances. During the competition there are scrupulous veterinary checks that allow the pair to continue with the competition or for health reasons, stop them, resulting in elimination.
Competitions are divided into two categories: competitions with fixed average (EVG) and competitions with free speed (CEN-CEI). The winner is the one who finishes the competition in the shortest possible time and with the horse in good health according to the established parameters.
In past years, Ticino has hosted several endurance competitions, the first in 1991 in Biasca and the last one held in Iragna in 2022. In 2024, our regional group Endurance2020 gladly accepted the challenge of proposing a Swiss Championship on Ticino soil in addition to the national categories and an international one.
What to expect? A healthy sports day, the sight of wonderful horses on our territory, and excellent company and cuisine at the AgriDaMe farmhouse hosting the event.
