A collective exhibition from Kathrin Blaser, Lorenzo Borghi and Enrico Martinoia on "looking through"
A LOOK THROUGH a window, a mask, a pair of binoculars - who hasn't experienced it? Sometimes we do it consciously, sometimes not. Sometimes we know what we're going to see, sometimes we do it out of curiosity. Sometimes we encounter familiar things, sometimes we are surprised. We have chosen BLICK DURCH as the title of our
exhibition because we have seen that there is a lot to think about, to marvel at and to smile about, very different and yet connected.
Kathrin Blaser has dedicated her drawings and graphics to the subject of the burqa. Women who wear a burqa the face is veiled by a narrow grid. How does a LOOK THROUGH the grid feel? It is almost impossible for outsiders to see through the mesh. So it is likely that the burka wearer and the outsider will remain strangers to each other.
Lorenzo Borghi's photographs are images of stars and the universe. The dimension of the universe is barely barely comprehensible to our imagination. The LOOK THROUGH a lens shows us a part of this universe. Even if we even if we don't understand these images, we are fascinated by the huge number of stars that surround us and wonder if there is life somewhere.
Enrico Martinoia has created ceramic objects that challenge visitors: LOOK THROUGH. The spatial dimension the spatial dimension of the objects, the viewer observes the surroundings from different angles. Some ceramic objects are humorous, others are thought-provoking and a few look at us, LOOK THROUGH us.
