Tour of the Schleitheim-Iuliomagus thermal museum, including the preserved Roman cellar if desired, with Markus Höneisen (former cantonal archaeologist of Schaffhausen).
The baths near Schleitheim once stood in the center of the small Roman town of Iuliomagus (1st-3rd century AD). Such baths were not only used for body care, but were also a fitness center, beauty salon, wellness oasis and an important social meeting place. Under the guidance of Markus Höneisen (former cantonal archaeologist of Schaffhausen), we will visit the well-preserved, impressive ruins and explore the sophisticated Roman building and bathing culture. If you wish, you can then visit the preserved Roman cellar in the former residential and commercial quarter of Iuliomagus.

Leader: Markus Höneisen (former cantonal archaeologist Schaffhausen)
Meeting point: Thermenmuseum, Zum Salzbrunnen, 8226 Schleitheim.
