ALINE FOURNIER

15.01.2025 18:00 - 20:00
LEMME, rte de Lausanne 45, 1950 Sion
For its last exhibition of the year, LEMME brings to light the work of Aline Fournier, a committed artist who uses and reformulates the status of public work embodied by the sédunoise monolith as a vector for the dissemination of ideas and social struggles. The intervention of the artist from Valais fills and saturates the space with a multitude of messages and images that literally explode before the viewer's eyes, presenting themselves as a complex ensemble of indications of the decay of a capitalist system that, although failing, nevertheless remains tenacious. It thus offers a view of the world that, through its striking disillusionment, nevertheless reveals a glimmer of hope and a call to fight and passionately defend its most cherished ideals.

The slogans applied with conviction manifest this longing for a fairer and more just world and reveal a fervent desire to reconnect with a utopia that was so precious to the great social and artistic movements of the past century. The images accumulated behind these posters become remnants of a world and a way of looking at reality that is now gone. The abandoned buildings that the artist chooses to photograph have turned into such familiar ghosts that they can only be described as non-places, much like wrecks or garbage that one prefers to ignore in order not to confront the harsh reality they embody.

"Out of Control", cries Aline Fournier, showing her astonishment at the slow but inexorable decadence of a world wandering in the aberrations of the illusions of a past glory which, although ephemeral, has never really disappeared. With this work, Aline Fournier emphasizes not only the fragility of our time, but also the urgency of responding to an uncertain future.

BIO

Aline Fournier was born in 1986 in the Valais Alps. After training as a multimedia designer and several years of professional experience in advertising, she began working as an independent photographer in 2010. Despite a flourishing business, five years later she reduced her commercial activities and opted for a nomadic lifestyle in order to devote herself entirely to her artistic projects. At the same time, she perfected her staging skills in various fields: visual design, installation, performance, video and illustration.

Authenticity characterizes her creative work as well as her constant search for the staging of contrasts. She appropriates the landscape by creating a territory inhabited by the most diverse characters. The dysfunctional that she uses and integrates into an environment symbolizes unity, depending on the inspiration
